I have a pell grant, and a federal loan to pay what the grant didn't. I am not able to work much and have bills - rent, car insurance, etc. I heard something about a private loan? - Your chances of getting a private loan with bad credit if you do not use a cosigner are slim, but if you want to try just contact a lender. Many people have gotten into serious trouble with private loans though. they are not discharged in bankruptcy just like federal loans, and they do not have the payment plan options that federal loans have, or the forgiveness options like federal loans. Why are not you able to work more? Basically, for living expenses, it's much better to either increase your income by working more or decrease your expenses canceling cable / cell phone, finding cheaper car insurance, getting a roommate, etc
