I have recieved a federal student loan, but I need another loan to cover living expences. ?
- you can look into the private student loan sector from well known banks but beware that you may have to pay it back while you are still in school if you do not read everything you sign and you may end up with a horrible interest rate. But, you may also need a co - signer if you do not have perfect credit
- you need 20, 000 dollars for living expenses? You must be going somewhere with a really high cost of living. I did not need anywhere near that much, and I just graduated. There are private loans out there, but you're going to pay a lot more interest. Also, try getting a part time job to cover some of the expenses. Good luck!

- If you live like a Professional when you are in college, you will live like a college student when you graduate. You should reconsider how much you will need to live off of for a year. Private student loans are evil and should be avoided at all costs. Ever hear of those students racking up 120K to earn their bachelor's degree? And are now are qualified to be a kindergarten teacher and can not afford those 1, 500 a month loan payments? They did this doing exactly what you are thinking of doing now. Never borrow more for your entire college career MORE than what you would expect to earn your first year out of college with that degree. For Example: If you are going to school to be a teacher and starting pay for these in your area is 24K, then do not borrow more than this this is all 4 years totaled or you will not be able to afford the loan payments when you graduate and will have to move back in with the folks to afford them. Hope that helps
- you can get a private loan if you have a cosigner, but it's harder to get them these days
- Are you sure that you're not doubling a per year amount thinking it's per semester? Your only option is going to be private loans, but that seems incredibly unpractical. Where is all that money going? I am going to University of Michigan - not Harvard but still a very expensive school - and it costs me only a little more than $20, 000 a year TOTAL

- There is no way it costs 20, 000 dollars for living expenses, unless that includes private vacations to hawaii 3 times during the school year. And even then you will still have extra. The average Room and Board should cost around 8 - 9 thousand per year. You will NOT get a loan for 20, 000 dollars I would imagine, nor should you want one. Sally Mae gives out private stafford loans for extra expenses. but I do not think that will be 20, 000
